There’s a lot of talk around AI lately — and for good reason. This transformative technology is revolutionizing the way companies find, engage, and hire top talent.
Sense partners with Anthropic, a leading AI organization that specializes in developing general AI systems and language models. The team at Anthropic are pioneers in the field of AI.
Recently, I had the opportunity to chat with Neerav Kingsland, head of strategic accounts at Anthropic. With Anthropic's expertise in generative AI and large language models, and Sense's focus on revolutionizing the recruiting industry, it was an incredible opportunity to exchange ideas and explore the potential of AI-powered solutions for talent acquisition.
I’m sharing the top takeaways and insights from the enlightening webinar.
In the past four to five years, there have been significant breakthroughs in AI, particularly in scaling laws. Researchers have discovered that by increasing the size of models and providing more data for training, the models became smarter. Companies like Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google made a bet that scaling would lead to advancements.
Initially, there was a demand for autocomplete features, where AI suggests the next word while typing. This concept has expanded to include autocomplete for entire paragraphs or pages. However, the latest trend is the shift towards a virtual assistant model, focusing on empowering employees and maximizing their capabilities.
“The future holds the promise of virtual AI assistants equipped with comprehensive knowledge bases, enabling employees to perform better in their roles,” says Neerav.
For example, in the wealth management industry, advisors struggle to keep up with the vast amount of information they need to remember. With the help of natural language queries, employees can easily access data and information. They can simply ask questions like the performance of the S&P 500 over the past 20 years, and the AI model will provide the answer. This represents a significant leap from traditional methods of Googling, clicking on links, and reading entire documents.
I’m sure everyone has some concerns with the increasing adoption of AI across industries — is AI out for your job? Is it ethical and bias-free?
There are two major categories of concerns that we must take very seriously:
Anthropic focuses on ensuring the safe and responsible deployment of AI at scale. Their ‘alignment research’ involves using human and AI feedback to train the model to respond as desired.
And then there’s the impact on jobs. While these transitions can be challenging, historically, major revolutions, like the Industrial and Farming Revolutions, have brought significant changes to the way we work. This can create opportunity, but we need to support those who may be affected.
“As the virtual assistant model dominates the next wave of AI, we need to be honest that some jobs existing today may not exist in the future. We need to think about retraining support and helping people thrive in a new economy,” advises Neerav.
AI virtual assistants have the potential to impact several industries. In the case of recruiting AI, a virtual HR assistant can summarize a candidate’s LinkedIn profile and previous interview notes, and provide valuable insights for future meetings with the candidate.
The future of AI is hugely promising. While current models still have limitations, such as occasional misunderstandings, the next couple of years will witness higher-performing models, enabling improved efficiency and effectiveness for businesses.
At Sense, we're harnessing the power of generative AI to create efficient solutions for recruiters. As the name suggests, these AI-powered tools are adept at generating content, making the process of sending messages, posting job descriptions, screening and reaching out to candidates faster and more streamlined.
With generative AI, recruiters also can manage large volumes of data and receive concise summaries, so they can focus on the most important information. Additionally, generative AI also enables recruiters to ask broader, more comprehensive questions and discover candidates that might have been missed using traditional search methods.
Enterprise AI refers to the application of AI within large-scale organizations or enterprises. As we embrace new technologies like AI in recruiting, it's crucial to approach them with thoughtfulness and caution around what’s possible.
Assess whether the AI tool seamlessly fits into your processes or if it introduces additional steps that might hinder efficiency. Another crucial consideration is ethics and bias. We must be vigilant in auditing and monitoring potential biases in AI algorithms. At Sense, we ensure models are audited and that human recruiters are involved in the process where appropriate to provide a final review to mitigate any AI biases that may arise. It's also important to inquire about how the AI tool improves and adapts to your specific needs. Understanding whether it is pre-trained or fine-tuned for recruiting purposes can help you gauge its effectiveness in your domain.
“Sense is at the forefront of revolutionizing the recruiting industry by harnessing the power of Large Language Models and combining them with our extensive recruiting datasets. This unique synergy allows us to deliver unparalleled results with a Talent Engagement Platform that’s trained on recruiting data and redefines the way organizations find their best-fit candidates,” adds Gennaro Frazzingaro, Sr. Director of Engineering and AI/ML leader at Sense.
Lastly, feedback and data are vital. Assess how the AI tool is performing and gather insights, so you can make informed decisions about its suitability for your company.
